About Engine Brake
Engine braking refers to the use of engine braking to raise the accelerator pedal, but without stepping on the clutch, to use the compression resistance generated by the engine's compression stroke, internal friction, and intake and exhaust resistance to form a braking effect on the driving wheels. It is used mainly in large diesel trucks and works by opening the exhaust valves at the top of the compression stroke, resulting in adiabatic expansion of the compressed air, so the large amount of energy stored in that compressed air is not returned to the crankshaft but is released into the atmosphere. The engine brake market is expected to witness steady growth in the coming years, driven by the aforementioned factors. Advancements in engine braking technology and growing concerns over road safety will further influence market expansion.
