About Diesel Exhaust Fluid
Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) refers to a solution made with urea and deionized water. It is sprayed in an organized manner into the exhaust gas flow through a selective catalytic reduction (SRC) fitted in diesel vehicles to help reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx). Diesel exhaust fluid market has high growth prospects owing to rising consumer demand for improved fuel efficiency which led to a rise in sales of diesel vehicles. And increasing government initiatives to control toxic emissions from diesel combustion engines expected to drive the demand for diesel exhaust fluid.

Market Leaders and their expansionary development strategies
6th February 2019, RelaDyne LLC provider of diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), fuel, lubricants, and industrial reliability services acquired Dutch Lubricants, the supplier of lubricants, including industrial, transport aviation and equipment products.
In August 2020, ZF has launched the new WABCO Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) which is essential for the smooth and hassle-free operation of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) after-treatment systems used to meet BS-VI standards.
“According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency First, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is adopting minimum maintenance intervals for replenishment of consumable chemical reductant (commonly known as diesel exhaust fluid, or DEF) in connection with the use of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technologies. Second, EPA is adopting provisions allowing manufacturers of no road engines to give operators the means to obtain short term relief from emission controls while operating in emergency situations, such as those where operation of a no road engine or equipment is needed to protect human life, and where obtaining short-term relief from emission controls enables such operation. Third, EPA is adopting minor revisions to the direct final rule for emergency vehicles that became effective August 7, 2012.”
