A wet wipe, also known as a wet towel, sensitization wipe, or baby wipe is a small to medium-sized moistened piece of plastic as well as cloth which comes rolled up and individually wrapped for convenience or, in the case of dispensers, as a huge roll with specific wipes that can be torn off. Wet wipes are also used for cleaning purposes such as personal hygiene and domestic cleaning; each product is different based on the chemicals employed, while medical or office cleaning wipes are not designed for skin care. Disposable wipes are used for a variety of purposes, including baby care, washing hands, feminine and other personal cleanliness, removing makeup, and applying lotions and sunless tanners, among others. Many, but not all, wipes are classified as cosmetics.
