About Mobile Fronthaul
The transfer of data and voice from a cell site remote radio head (RRH) to a centralized baseband unit (BBU), which then connects to the mobile telephone switching office, is referred to as mobile fronthaul (MTSO). Mobile fronthaul allows all network equipment to be used to its full potential. It collects information on each connection and link, such as BER and uplink and downlink delays. Mobile fronthaul technology allows for remote configuration of each node and the mapping of each CPRI connection to the appropriate OTN container. Mobile fronthaul allows for fronthaul traffic sizing based on load.
