About Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Chargers
V2G, or Vehicle to Grid, is a technology that allows electric vehicles to both take from the grid and supply power back when it is most needed. This is implemented using bidirectional charging, which allows energy to flow in and out of the automobile battery. Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technology incorporates smart technology to adjust the electric vehicle (EV) to the grid. V2G uses special bidirectional power converters to enable EVs to send power synchronously. Permission from the grid operator is required to attach a bidirectional charger to an EV in order to sell power. V2G technology also opens up opportunities for advanced functions and features of energy management systems. This allows the user to charge the EV when the price of energy is low and sell the excess energy back to the grid at a higher rate. The battery of the car is optimized to be more than just an energy resource, but rather a private energy bank. V2G controls the energy flow from the grid to the EV to charge the battery as well as the flow from the EV battery to the grid to release the stored energy.
