Halloysite clay is an aluminosilicate clay mineral with the chemical formula Al2Si2O5 (OH) 4. It contains 55.78% of oxygen, 21.76% of silicon, 20.90% of aluminum, and 1.56% of hydrogen. Owing to its high whiteness, high aspect ratio, and nanosize halloysite is particularly required by ceramic tableware producers for its translucent effect in fine porcelain and bone china. It is traditionally used as a carrier in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, a filter in plastics, particularly PVC, and as a suspension agent in paints, inks, and filters.
