About Citrus Pulp
Citrus is one of the most important crops across the globe. Oranges, tangerines, mandarins, lemons, and grapefruits are one of the primary cultivated species under this market. More than 30% of the production of citrus fruits is processed among which main reason is to make fruit juice. Which results in large quantities of by-products. Citrus pulp is the solid residue remaining after squeezing the juice out of the fruit. It amounts to more than 50% of the weight of fresh fruit. It contains, peels, internal tissues, and seeds. Mainly citrus pulp is made from oranges after making orange juice but can also be made from other citrus fruits notably lemons and grapefruits. Citrus pulp has high energy content which, can be used as cereal substitutes for livestock. It is also easily digestible. Most of the pulp is dried and exported around the world. It is easy to store and has a higher nutritive value than fresh pulp.
