What is Rotor Dampers Market Scope?
Dampers are generally required in fully articulated rotor systems that can be both main and tail rotors. In industry, different technologies are used depending on the degree of damping and stroke (movement) required by the damper. Current technologies are hydraulic dampers with open or shear only, viscoelastic (molded silicone elastomer), and hybrid (both elastomeric and hydraulic components in one damping system). Damper systems consist of a damping device and a means for connecting this device to the rotor system. Linear dampers typically use rod ends for biaxial freedom of movement interface with either the blade or the hub of the rotor. The rod ends used to comply with the technologies described in the section on Pitch Link assembly. In other configurations, the damper can simply shear between two relative motion interfaces, creating a solid interface on the damping device. It is important to note that self-lubricating bearings are generally used at the attachment point between the damper and the aircraft. The design of the damper requires intensive consultation with the customer, as the dynamic performance and stability of the rotor system are influenced by changes in the static and dynamic stiffness of the damper. These dampers have hereby set the industry standards for much highly customizable energy dissipation. Fluidlastic technology makes it possible to process very high energy losses in small packages and adapt them to the application. Both fluid-elastic and elastomeric dampers do not contain any sliding seals, so that, unlike conventional dampers, they are insensitive to dust and dirt. In a dynamically complex application like the rotorcrafts (helicopter), rotor dampers fulfill a very important function for vibration management.
