Digital repeater is a device which receives the digital signal on an electromagnetic and regenerates the signal. In electromagnetic media, repeaters overcome the reduction caused by free-space electromagnetic-field divergence or cable loss. The extension of a signal over a distance is possible through a series of repeaters. Digital repeater offers band selective functions according to customer requirements (bandwidth variable are available). Digital filters enable repeaters to have strong out of band rejection and also has automatic Gain Control (AGC) to avoid the repeater from over saturation, hence maintaining a high voice quality and avoid adding interference to network.
