Gap fillers are available in different types such as liquid, foam and thermal. Thermal gap filler pads are made from silicone polymer which is combined with ceramic, cast and cured to a soft, conformal thermal pad material, in sheet form. Liquid-dispense gap fillers can better accommodate macroscopic differences in thickness across the length of a bond line. It is not uncommon for bond lines to vary by several millimeters through the length of a battery pack due to tolerances in substrate planarity.
