Scope of the Study
Intraoral scanners refer to devices used for capturing direct optical impressions in dentistry. Intraoral scanners are growing owing to technological advancement in the dentistry and growing healthcare infrastructure in the developing economies driving the demand for intraoral scanners. Further, the increasing prevalence of dental disorders, dental restorative procedures, and growth in the geriatric population expected to drive the demand for intraoral scanners over the forecasted period.
The market study is being classified by Type (Standalone Intraoral Scanners and Portable Intraoral Scanners) and major geographies with country level break-up.
Adin Global (Israel), Dental Wings Inc. (Switzerland), 3M (United States), 3Shape A/S (Denmark), Align Technology, Inc. (United States), Dentsply Sirona (United States), Carestream Health Inc. (United States) and PLANMECA OY (Finland) are some of the key players profiled in the study. Additionally, the Players which are also part of the research are Condor International (Belgium) and 3DISC (United States).
Research Analyst at AMA predicts that United States Players will contribute to the maximum growth of Global Intraoral Scanners market throughout the predicted period.

4th February 2019, Dentsply Sirona launches new intraoral scanner integrated with digital impressioning technology for various digital workflows.
“According to the Food and Drug Administration, intraoral scanners (IOS) are devices for capturing direct optical impressions in dentistry Similar to other three-dimensional scanners, they project a light source onto the object to be scanned, in this case the dental arches, including prepared teeth and implant scanbodies. The images of the dentogingival tissues captured by imaging sensors are processed by the scanning software, which generates point clouds. These point clouds are then triangulated by the same software, creating a 3D surface model. The 3D surface models of the dentogingival tissues are the result of the optical impression and are the virtual alternative to traditional plaster models.”
