Industry Background:
Ethanol fuel is simply the same primary alcohol found in alcoholic beverages that have been converted into fuel. It is primarily used as a biofuel supplement to gasoline as a motor fuel. Because of its chemical composition, ethanol fuel provides less energy per unit volume than gasoline. As a result, any ethanol-blended gasoline is less efficient than pure gasoline. Ethanol-based Vehicles have an internal combustion engine and can run on gasoline or any gasoline-ethanol blend up to 83 percent. E85 also known as flex-fuel is a gasoline-ethanol blend that contains 51 to 83 percent ethanol, depending on geography and season. There were more than 21 million FFVs in the United States in 2018. Because FFVs are factory built and can run on gasoline and gasoline-ethanol blends, many vehicle owners are unaware that their vehicle is an FFV and that they have a choice of fuels. This growth is primarily driven by Rising Demand for Environmentally Friendly Automobiles .
