What is Automotive Engine Piston Market?
Automotive engine piston is a cylindrical component that slides back and forth in the cylinder bore by forces produced during the combustion process. It acts as a movable end of the combustion chamber. It is generally made of a cast aluminum alloy for excellent and lightweight thermal conductivity. Its features contain the piston head, piston pin bore, skirt, ring grooves, ring lands and piston rings.

Market Leaders & Development Strategies
In February 2023, Shriram Pistons and Rings acquires a 75% stake in Takahata Precision, a Japanese injection molding major. This is Shriram Pistons' second major acquisition after acquiring EMFI, a Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India-based manufacturer of electric vehicle motors and controllers. The acquisition of Takahata is subject to approval. EY acted as SPRL's exclusive financial advisor on the transaction, the company said in a statement.
On 4th September 2018, MAHLE Group announced that piston coating is being developed with the purpose of increasing efficiency and minimizing emissions. These coatings are intended to guide and reduce the heat entering the pistons. This initially reduces the demand for piston cooling, and the increased exhaust gas temperature allows a higher quantity of energy to be extracted by waste heat recovery (WHR) systems.
