What is Anaerobic Adhesive?
Anaerobic adhesives are a single component, solvent-free adhesives, which cure in the absence of air and the presence with metal ions. Anaerobic adhesives stay liquid until isolated from oxygen in the presence of metal ions, such as steel or iron. The liquid adhesives are designed for use in challenging applications to fill the spaces and surface irregularities between tightly mated thread or cylindrical parts thus eliminating the need for washers and gaskets. Anaerobic adhesives are used as thread lockers, thread sealants, flange sealants, and retaining materials. When designed into an assembly, these adhesives reduce component inventories, enhance equipment reliability, decrease total manufacturing costs, and minimize aftermarket breakdown and associated warranty problems.
