About Doppler Fetal Monitors
Monitoring the fetal heart rate is a popular way to determine foetal well-being (fHR). Doppler ultrasonography is the de-facto standard technique for fHR monitoring in clinical practise (US). A US transducer attached to the maternal abdomen is used to continuously measure the fHR before and throughout delivery. Cardiotocography is the combination of continuous fHR measurement and concomitant uterine activity monitoring (CTG). A portable Doppler US transducer is generally used for intermittent measurements of the fHR. Intrapartum stillbirths can be reduced by improving intrapartum surveillance. I Fetal monitoring can be done in a number of methods, but most equipment are currently too expensive for low-resource environments.
