Global Arthroscope Market Overview:
Arthroscopy is mainly a surgical procedure that diagnoses, visualizes, and treats the problems related to the joints. During an arthroscopic exam, the surgeon inserts a pencil-sized instrument into the patient's skin. This instrument is known as an arthroscope. Arthroscopes are telescopic devices that allow visualization and therapeutic treatment of the interior of a joint (e.g. knee, shoulder, wrist, elbow, hip, and ankle). An arthroscope consists of a magnifying lens system enclosed in a rigid tube and is available in two basic optical designs: a rod lens system (long, rod-shaped lenses separated by small spaces) and a single-image fiber system (narrow) in diameter and containing an image-transmitting fiber bundle). In both designs, the lens system is surrounded by optical fibers that transmit light from a distant source into the interior of the joint. Accessories include irrigation / stretching systems, fiber optics, camera systems, lasers, and accessories for electrosurgery and razors. Diagnostic and surgical arthroscopes work similarly. Once the arthroscope is inserted, the lens system enlarges the inside of the joint by collecting light and focusing that light to create a real image. Surrounding optical fibers direct light to the other end of the oscilloscope for better visibility. The field of view is proportional to the diameter of an arthroscope, and manufacturers offer different diameters. Tools can be guided over the optical line of the arthroscope via an instrument channel.
