About Gamma Valerolactone
Gamma-Valerolactone (GVL) is a colorless liquid found naturally in fruits. It is used as a fuel additive and food ingredient. It is a green solvent obtained from cellulosic biomass which is obtained from hexoses. In a synthesis process, cellulosic biomasses, such as sawgrass, corn stover, or wood are hydrolyzed into glucose and other sugars using acid catalysts. It can be used for the production of fuel additives, biofuels, and polymers.
