About Sustainable Aviation fuel-
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a replacement for traditional jet fuel, intended to lower the carbon impact of air travel. SAF is made from renewable materials like plant oils, algae, and waste, providing a cleaner, more environmentally friendly choice than traditional fossil-based jet fuels. The primary benefit of SAF is its potential to lower greenhouse gas emissions, making it a crucial component of the aviation industry's response to climate change. SAF is also capable of being utilized in current jet engines and infrastructure with minimal or no adjustment, so it is a good drop-in alternative to traditional jet fuel. SAF emits considerably less carbon when combusted, with some forms of SAF being able to lower emissions by as much as 80% across their entire lifecycle compared to standard jet fuel. This is accomplished through the utilization of renewable feedstocks and carbon dioxide capture from the atmosphere in the manufacturing process.
