About Drop Forging-
Drop forging is a forging/manufacturing process in which a hammer is lifted and then 'dropped' onto a heated piece of metal to reshape it into the shape of a die/tool. Pre-heating the metal softens its structure. This means it can be controllable deformed into the desired shape. As the material cools, it solidifies again, resulting in increased metal strength. Drop forging, also known as hammer forging, is the process of repeatedly impacting a piece of metal between two dies. The lower die is typically fixed atop an anvil, but the top die is lifted and dropped, affecting the material resting on the lower dies.
