About Pure Malt Whisky
A Pure Malt is Scotch Whisky made purely from malted barley and is a mixture of Single Malts from multiple distilleries in Scotland. Pure malt whisky is made from a fermented mash of malted barley. A single malt whisky is a product produced solely by one distillery. Malt whisky can be made from malted grains other than barley, but it is not called malt whisky unless the grain is specified, such as rye malt whisky or buckwheat malt whisky. Pure Malt Whisky is made entirely of malted barley. Because there is no indication of origin, it could be a Single Malt or a Vatted Malt, both of which are common. They must not be the same age. It is possible to specify the youngest age.
