About Dilatometers
A dilatometer is a precision tool for the measurement of dimensional changes in material as a function of temperature. It can be used to test a wide range of material containing traditional and advanced ceramics, glasses, metals, and polymers. Further, it offers measurements of a wide variety of properties like linear thermal expansion, coefficient of thermal expansion, sintering temperature, shrinkage steps, density change, phase transitions, and glass transition temperature. A standard dilatometer test determines both reversible and irreversible changes in length such as expansion and shrinkage during heating and cooling, and pinpoints where reactions occur which cause expansion or contraction.
