isoamyl laurate is an ester formed by a reaction between isoamyl alcohol and lauric acid. It is a colorless, clear, oily fluid with a moderately strong waxy fragrance. It too has a peach-like fragrance. It is primarily used as a fragrance fixing. It is additionally used as an emollient. Since it contains lauric acid, which is useful for the skin. Generally, esters are fatty in nature and give moisturization to the skin. Isoamyl laurate forms a defensive film on the skin or the hair, subsequently ensuring the skin from environmental factors. Moreover, it does not let moisture evaporate from the skin and subsequently, conditions the skin. It provides quick spread-ability and a rich, non-sticky, light, and velvety skin feel. It has good miscibility with other surfactants.
