About Enterprise Single Sign On
SSO (single sign-on) is a session and client authentication programme that allows a user to enter several services with only one set of login credentials (for example, a name and password). SSO can be used by businesses, small businesses, and people to simplify the handling of many usernames and passwords. During the same session, the service authenticates the end user with any of the applications to which the user has been granted access and removes potential login prompts for specific applications. Employees can use their SSO login credentials on any laptop, with any web browser, without posing a security danger. SSO can also be used in conjunction with risk-based authentication (RBA). In a simple web SSO service, an agent module on the application server retrieves an actual user's unique authentication credentials from a dedicated SSO policy server, thus authenticating the user against a user list, such as an LDAP archive.
