About Dental Desensitizer
Desensitization is defined as "gradual exposure to new stimuli or experiences of increasing intensity". In the dental setting, desensitization is used to gradually expose the young dentist-patient to the new dental experience. Dental desensitizers are used in the treatment of tooth hypersensitivity, which is defined as the painful response of the tooth to irritating, thermal, tactile, osmotic, or chemical stimuli. It is mainly used in dentistry as a desensitizer and is said to reduce tooth sensitivity by reducing the ability of the nerve fibers in the tooth pulp to polarize again after an initial depolarization due to the sensation of pain. There are several commercially available desensitizers with different compositions and in different forms. Desensitizers can be prescribed to patients after the teeth whitening procedure to prevent the problem of sensitivity.
