Methyl orange is an orange, azoic dye which has a transition range from 3.1 to 4.4. It does not have a full spectrum of color change but has a sharper endpoint. Methyl orange appearances red color in acidic medium (pH < 3.1) and yellow color in basic medium (pH > 4.4). It is used as a pH-indicator in a 0.1% aqueous solution for the titration of mineral acids (not organic acids) and strong bases. It is also used in dyeing and printing textiles as a dyestuff. Though methyl orange has long been in use as a standard indicator in acid-base titrations, it suffers from certain serious disadvantages. The indicator is too insensitive requiring almost two pH units to change from the acid color to the alkaline.This growth is primarily driven by Increasing Demand from Pharmaceutical Industry and High Demand in Biological Applications.

Methyl orange is an orange, azoic dye which has a transition range from 3.1 to 4.4. It does not have a full spectrum of color change but has a sharper endpoint. Methyl orange appearances red color in acidic medium (pH < 3.1) and yellow color in basic medium (pH > 4.4). It is used as a pH-indicator in a 0.1% aqueous solution for the titration of mineral acids (not organic acids) and strong bases. It is also used in dyeing and printing textiles as a dyestuff. Though methyl orange has long been in use as a standard indicator in acid-base titrations, it suffers from certain serious disadvantages. The indicator is too insensitive requiring almost two pH units to change from the acid color to the alkaline.
