The beta-lactam ring of sulbactam irreversibly binds to beta-lactamase at or near its active site stopping enzyme activity and preventing the metabolism of other beta-lactam antibiotics drugs by the use of an enzyme. Usually, the ampicillin and sulbactam are penicillin antibiotics are combined together to fight bacteria, which is used to treat certain kinds of infection including the skin infection caused by bacteria.
