About Fatbike
A fat bike is an off-road bicycle with tyres that are typically 3.8" (96mm) or wider, as well as rims that are 2.6" (66mm) or wider. The frame, fork, and wheels have all been designed expressly to fit the wide tyres. Normally, the air pressure in fat bike tyres is kept between 5 and 14 psi. The purpose of broad tyres is to disperse the weight of the bike and rider over a larger surface area than standard bike tyres. This reduces ground pressure and allows the tyres to float over soft or unstable terrain where traditional mountain bike tyres would sink and become stuck. Fat bikes were designed with the purpose of riding through deep snow and soft sand. They also perform well in mud, bogs, loose gravel, and arid environments.
