Breadfruit is a tree native to the Pacific islands but can be cultivated and grown naturally in very warm climates, such as South Florida or the Caribbean. Additionally, to growing it as a large landscape element, breadfruit can be grown for food and it produces more food than most other plants. The fruit is used in ways similar to potatoes like fried, boiled, or baked. Breadfruit root and leaves are taken by mouth for arthritis, asthma, back pain, gout, diabetes, fever, high blood pressure, liver disease, and toothaches and latex is taken by mouth for diarrhea and stomach pain. Moreover, the breadfruit might lower blood pressure by decreasing heart rate and weakening the force of heart muscle contractions.
