Global Soprano Mandolin Market Overview:
A mandolin is a stringed musical instrument belonging to the lute family and is usually plucked with a plectrum. Most commonly, four courses are tuned in unison with double metal strings, making a total of 8 strings, although there are also five (10 strings) and six (12 strings) course versions. The courses are usually tuned in an interval of perfect fifths, with the same tuning as a violin. The mandolin is the soprano member of the mandolin family while the violin is the soprano member of the violin family. As with the violin, its scale length is typically around 330 mm. Modern American mandolins, modeled after Gibsons, are of a longer scale, about 350mm. The strings in each of the double-string courses are tuned in unison, and the courses use the same tuning as the violin: G3 - D4 - A4 - E5.
